Where to start:

When you're there, next to the oak tree you will see Nurmof, who sells mining and woodcutting axes. You will NOT need 41 mining to use the rune pickaxe.
Next to Nurmof will be the ores you can mine.

Getting to the awesome smithing spot:
WARNING!: The following smithing spot shown is in the wildy, even the banks nearby. If you want to use a safer but slower method:
1) For smelting, use the lumbridge furnace. It's still in the wilderness, but much closer by to a safe zone.
2) For smithing, use the west-varrock anvil. It's not the in the wilderness at all, and has a bank nearby.
